Welcome and introductions

Welcome to my new website!

After more than twenty years in the industry, going out on your own can be both exciting and terrifying. Still, I am excited to introduce you to the concept of Igniting Inclusion.

Over the years, I have seen the industry change - not only around HR and DEI but also in how we work. We all remember the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on the workplace, and going back even further, we’ve seen the effects of technological developments. What we haven’t discussed, though, is the workplace in general. We haven’t innovated against a format that has existed for over one hundred years without much innovation or change. Most of us still wake up, drive to work, and then sit at a desk all day for eight or nine hours, stopping for a quick lunch, only to repeat the same format day after day.

We also haven’t always taken the time to consider the systems created around and within the workplace; as an industrial and organizational psychologist, that has always interested me. If we make a small change to the layout of an office, the temperature of a room, or the position of the lights, those can all significantly impact how productive our teams are and how well we work together. In addition, if we consider the ripple effects of decisions on the overall ecosystem of an organization, we can truly create thoughtful, inclusive change that integrates respect and compassion while increasing engagement, retention, and productivity.

Don’t believe me? Stick around.

I’m excited to bring the science of the workplace - not just HR and DEI, but also environment, safety, HSE, leadership, data analysis, etc. A lot of consultants spent most of their careers as trainers or executives. Still, I’ve spent my life looking at why organizations do what they do, what motivates people, how we find new ways to innovate in the workplace to increase engagement, and, more importantly - how we do this while considering your organization's unique challenges. If you’re not a Western business, Western approaches aren’t going to work. After spending more than eight years in Saudi Arabia, I frequently saw attempts to force Western theories onto Saudi culture. It simply doesn’t work, and it won’t work.

Thank you for joining me on this journey, and I look forward to meeting and working with you.
